While traditional crème brûlée features creamy custard topped with a crackly caramelized sugar shell, Costco’s version swaps out the rich custard base for a light vanilla sponge cake. This airy foundation is layered with what Lamb describes as a “crunchy Brûlée layer,” delivering the signature burnt sugar flavor in a completely different texture.
“This cake is light, it’s creamy, and it’s just the right amount of sweet,” she says in her video review.
Costco’s creation doesn’t shy away from familiar flavors.
